some people choose to go a bit longer (16 more days) as they are either breaking it gently with blended foods; adding a liver/gallbladder cleanse at the tail; have more weight to lose; and 108 is a cosmic number (fun with numbers):
*It is the hyperfactorial of 3 since it is of the form 1x1 + 2x2 +3x3
*In normal space, the interior angles of an equilateral pentagon measure 108 degrees each.
*Chinese astrology and Tao philosophy holds that there are 108 sacred stars.
*In Japan, at the end of the year, a bell is chimed 108 times to finish the old year and welcome the new one. Each ring represents one of 108 earthly temptations a person must overcome to achieve nirvana.
*It is described in the Srimad Bhagavatam that Krishna dances with 108 'Gopis' (cow-herd girls) in His Vrindavan pastimes.
*Many Buddhist temples have 108 steps.
*There are 108 holy temples of Vishnu.
*Hindu deities have 108 names. Recital of these names, often accompanied by counting of 108-beaded Mala, is considered sacred and often done during religious ceremonies. The recital is called namajapa.
*Sri Yantra: On the Sri Yantra there are marmas where three lines intersect, and there are 54 such intersections. Each intersections has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti qualities. 54 x 2 equals 108. Thus, there are 108 points that define the Sri Yantra as well as the human body.
*Planets and Houses: In astrology, there are 12 houses and 9 planets. 12 times 9 equals 108.
*1, 0, and 8: 1 stands for God or higher Truth, 0 stands for emptiness or completeness in spiritual practice, and 8 stands for infinity or eternity.
*Sun and Earth: The diameter of the sun is 108 times the diameter of the Earth.
*Stages of the soul: Said that Atman, the human soul or center goes through 108 stages on the journey.
*All Buddhists accept the Buddha Footprint with its 108 Auspicious Illustrations.
A circle has 360 degrees, which when multiplied by 60 gives us 21,600 minutes in a circle. 60 comes from the 60 'ghatis' which Sanatana Dharmiks believe in. One ghati is equal to 24 minutes and 60 ghatis come to 24 hours.
One ghati is divided into 60 parts or 'palas'.
So the 60 ghatis multiplied by 60 palasa comes to 3,600.
This is further multiplied by 60 (becase a pala contains 60 vipalas) which gives us 21,600.
Half of this is for the day, and the other half for the night. So, 21,600 divided by 2 gives us 10,800. For practical purposes, we use 108. Using the number 108 helps us coordinate the rhythm of time and space & we remain in harmony with the spiritual powers of nature.
aHO olessia ... i'm glad you're still JFing. my family dropped out so it is just me now and I am envisioning going all the way to 108 days. yes, i agree, quite the roller coaster, but then, I've always loved coasters so I guess all is well ... the biggest deal for me is all the toxic emotions coming up .... and practicing non-identifying with them ... disowning them ... sometimes I want to have a good, deep 2-second cry and then it's over ... kinda funny. good thing the juice I make is the best juice ever .... to keep me on the ride ... (although I do have my occasional food fantasy, I like the lean-tummy feeling, and my body is absolutely thrilled that I am giving her this extended vacation ).... lots of energy most days altho I sure do like to sleep a loooong time at night (8-10 hours) which is rare for me as I am ususally a 6-hr sleeper. hope you have a bee-you-ti-full day!
Olessia check out my blog to see the photo of ormus crystals in my ice cube tray that look exactly like quartz crystals rising up .... they are so awesome .... :)
i was living in Playa del Rey (between Manhattan Beach and Venice) and drove up the coast and thru Topanga Canyon to work at a health foundation in the San Fernando Valley ... so it was an 8 hour day with a 2-hour commute each way. So i would stop on the beach on the way home and sun gaze ... not too bad of a life to see dolphins instead of freeways ... altho i love being in school right now i miss the water as i live inland now ....
thanks, luv, i was definitely inspired by the whales and dolphins with the image i created ... and that is only half of it! i'm in school full-tine studying graphics and web design so i can share my download visions with all the rest of my light family. :)
