What's Your Modified Juice Feasting Plan? What Are Your Goals?

The Concept of the Modified Juice Feast

David & Katrina have built an incredible program around an equally incredible concept. But not all of us feel called to do a full 92-day Juice Feast.

But what if you still feel called to do something with Juice Feasting?

Enter the Modified Juice Feast.

There is no plan to this, no rules. Well, except maybe that you at least drink some juice!

Why Am I Doing This?

I felt called to the Juice Feasting concept the first time I heard of it. However, I knew that I didn't feel called to do a whole Juice Feast as laid out in David's program. I've given this much thought over the past month or so and (with some additional help from David Rain) have come to this conclusion.

What Is My Modified Juice Feast?

Well, I'm giving myself no rules on this. My "plan" is to increase my juice (specifically green juice) consumption by at least two quarts a day for approximately 100 Days. Over that time, I will be including mostly raw foods in my diet otherwise. As most of you know from our blog, I am not a 100% raw foodist and may never plan to be.

I am, however, quite interested to see where my cravings for the cooked foods I still do eat go. In addition, I'm looking to:

* Improve my sleep.
* Improve my mental clarity.
* Stabilize my emotions.
* Lose some additional weight in my face.
* Clear the rest of my skin.

And more interestingly...

* Write and record a full album.
* Create a full performance.

I won't go into detail about my musical past here, but may do some more on my site: jsohlander.com.

What's Your Modified Juice Feasting Plans?

Share them here. Let's get together as a group and see what we can learn from each other about doing this our own way.

Tell us why you're choosing this path and what you aim to accomplish by doing so.

Hi,

I call myself modified juice feaster as well.(Sorry for my english I am still learning).
Why am I choosen to be a modified juice feaster? ....I am very interested about health and everything what can make me feel healtier.Last year I have been studying everything possible and became from raw to 80-10-10 (Dr.Doug graham diet).Because last few months I came htrue full body detox (Blessed herbs) I dont really want DETOX effect from juice feast.I would like to only drink juices as long as I will be able too.So I am not going to do enemas and probably will not drink msm.But I will drink only juice.
What I would like to achieve?? Most off all increase my energy
improve my mental clarity
stabilize my emotions
and very important.....make me stronger with achieving my goals....
My favorite juice is ; celery, lemon, cucumber, pinaeple and spinach. What is your favorite green juice?

Hey JS,

Interesting to read your post, I have been thinking over this about the last month also and following Heidi's blog daily - go girl!! You're doing great! I love the idea and philosophy of the 92 day feast but my instinct is pointing me toward a few variations. Firstly, everything would be raw( (which is in line with David's protocol). Everything would be alkaline (in line with Dr Robert O'Youngs work...not sure if you're familiar with it) and also incorporating some ideas of David and Annie Jubbs 'Lifefood fasting' which incorporates raw blended green soups, green juices, allakine water and nutmilks which are easy for the body to digest, freeing up energy whilst also providing energy and nutrition for the body. I would also like to do bikram yoga daily, whilst getting plenty of rest.

It would look something like this:

Litre of lemon water + MSM + zeolite

Green juice + udo's oil + enzymes

Litre of 'green drink' + zeolite

Green juice + hemp oil + enzymes

Litre of green drink + enzymes

Bowl of raw green blended vege soup + enzymes

*coconut water
*Tbsp pollen

*bikram yoga daily
*10 minutes rebounding
* Deep breathing 3 sets of 10 deep breaths daily
*skin brushing
*daily enemas

I also intend to meditate daily. ( I have learnt TM) and read daily.

There's a part of me that REALLY wants to participate and follow the protocol of David's feast but I keep on coming back to the program I outline above.

Would love to hear your thoughts!!!

I am currently on a very SAD diet and am feeling that way too. I have been raw, I have read so much on the subject on raw, cleansing, have juice fasted up to 80 days before but have fallen into a mental, spiritual and physical (am carrying an extra weight) rut, filling up on crap food (and wine) and am really looking for something to help me find my way again.

That kinda outlines what I had in mind. Alkalising, engergising and cleansing the body.

x Ruby.

Hi Ruby
I really like the look of your modified feast. When are you planning to start?

I am also interested in the enzymes that you are planning to include several times a day. Which enzymes will you be taking?

I do the skin brushing, have regular saunas, practice deep breathing several times a day (especially upon waking and before sleeping), have enemas (esp coffee and garlic) and meditate occasionally (would love to learn TM but it's so expensive!). Have bought a rebounder but don't really know how best to use it - any advice on technique, exercises?

I am already on the GJF but having completed the first week, I have made decision to modify, whilst continuing with a high proportion of green juicing, I will also be eating some 100% raw food as and when I feel the need. I usually only eat huge salads and my home made raw tomato and herb bread anyway, with the odd bit of raw home-made chocolate ( we're hoping to go into business making and selling it once we've moved) I am also continuing with enemas and all the suggested supplements. I plan to 'restart' a full juice feast when we have moved house (currently packing up to sell and relocate to the South)

I am so grateful for the effects that just the short feast that I've had have resulted in. Huge shifts in my focus and energy and dissipation of old anger and negative thinking - imagine what the full 92 days will do for me! Can't wait! I just feel that right now I am not fully in the space I need to be in for a total juice feast.

My goals are very similar to those posted by Precious, especially the be 'gentle with myself' Being more conscious and living in the moment are definite goals.

I am so excited by the way my experience of raw living and juicing has opened up my life's potential. Each day feels like the 'best day ever' - thank you David Wolfe!

my love and support to you all on your journeys.

love and light

I broke my ankle and had surgery in January. I am going to start off doing a modified juice feast and after I have the screw is removed in the end of April I will decide whether I will do a 30 day feast. I still fill the effects of the general anesthesia in my system and want to detox from that. I was 100% raw for January but choice to eat cooked vegan in February to help my husband since he is doing all the food preparation for our family. I am a little more mobile and look forward to beginning tomorrow. I am going to include some of the recommended supplements. The MSM and Vitalzym has been wonderful with keeping the inflammation and swelling down.

My goals are to be:
gentle with myself
increase intuition
to overcome my self-sabatoging tendencies
to live fully in the moment
to get clarity on my career pursuits in the (holistic, raw, eco world)

Hi Justin,

Juice feasting is great for you, even if it's not a 92-day straight deal...Heidi should feel really good about what's she's accomplished so far! I think it's fabulous that she did it as long as she has!

As for me, well, I guess you could say I have been on a "modified" juice feast for a while. I probably drink an average of 50 - 80 ounces of green juices or green smoothies a day, plus fruit smoothies - in addition to raw treats. I can't see myself just drinking juice. The last time I tried, it lasted 2-days...lol...but juice feasting definately is easier on the digestion, and gives me great energy - plus you lose weight!

I wish you and Heidi the best. I always feel inspired by her blogs, and information that the two of you provide! Thanks for sharing!

I love the idea of juice feasting but just don't feel that doing it 100% or for 92 days is necessary in my own personal life. I've invested in a VitaMix and a juicer so that I can enjoy the benefits of green juicing, and over the past month I have definitely had benefits (which I chronicle at Raw Odyssey.) The major tweaks I've made to the juice feasting program is to drink green juices all day until I return home from work/class. Then I'll have a solid meal. That meal could be raw (like a salad) or cooked (like a yam or something else). My goal is for that one solid meal to be a healthy vegetarian or vegan one, whether it is cooked or not.

The reason I am content to modify the feast in this way is because in my past month of experimenting with the one meal a day I've had seen my complexion improve , have greatly reduced my addiction to processed foods, plus I've lost about 10 lbs. I was thrilled when the Rainosheks referred to my modifications of their juice feasting program as a "modified" juice feast because I think that is a great way for them to still bring into the fold those of who are aren't, as JS puts it, "called to" juice feasting. I think its important to acknowledge that enormous health benefits are possible even when you modify the plan. I'm not feeling an urge to detox as quickly as possible; I like this slower, gentle approach. If I should reach a plateau of some sort I would probably do real juice feasting or "green smoothie feasting" but other than that, I'm thrilled with the progress I've made eating this way and grateful to the Rainosheks for their hard work - it brought me back to raw foods!

I am a modified juice feaster, also.

I'm going to do as much juice feasting as I feel comfortable with, but I will be including green smoothies, also. The main reason for this modification for me, is it's still all raw, but I have a cheap-o juicer and blender, and neither one is very effective. Plus, they get pretty warm pretty quickly.

I may only have one smoothie per week, or I might decide to have one a day. In any case, I'll be juicing mostly.

I have type 2 diabetes and am just juicing green juices and only once in a while add a little root veggies.

Because of expense, I'm always considering ways to make this more affordable. Does anyone know, would green smoothies work? Is it mostly because the fiber would cause digestion to start again? What are the other cons?

My goal is to get my blood sugar down to normal. I'm on day 10 and not there yet. And then after I get to that point, to continue juicing as long as possible (limited by expense) and then follow the raw vegan diet suggested in Gabriel Cousen's diabetes cure book.

Our version of a modified juice feast is three days a week we consume nothing but green juices morning, noon and evening and in between! I generally do nothing but juices all day everyday and then a light raw dinner. My husband has been transitioning over to the raw lifestyle for the past couple months, and he loves the weight he's lost, the extra energy, and is feeling so much better! Plus he's cut his asthma meds in half... YAY!! So the three day plan is mostly for his benefit and works with his very physical schedule. I want to support him in any way possible, since he's supported me so graciously when I went raw and he fought it all the time LOL! Now the shoe's on the other foot *smiles*

Hi Lauren
My hubbie also followed me onto the raw pathway, He too has asthma and has cut his meds out all together! Admittedly, he wasn't on them much but he's not had anything since last November and is still doing fine. I've also modified my feast to green juices everyday with a salad in the early evening.and then every third day, just juice. Seems to be working quite well for me. However we both plan to do a full feast once we've moved house.
