I've just begun my juice feast. I started the very day that many juice feasters stopped.
Are there any other Summer Feasters?
The produce is perfect right now! Local organic is readily available! Things are greening up, plumping up, and ripening up. Being cold won't be an issue!
Taking it one day at a time... I have a really strong urge to graze tonight... actually right now the urge is extremely strong... just trying to power through it.
Yeah, I'm getting a lot of support from twitter. Several of the friends there are just finishing and have loads of advice. One said the cravings last no more than 10 minutes and said to do something distracting.
Yesterday I found a juice bar when I was out and about. There I was at the bar, slamming o.j.'s, saying, "hit me with another" I ended up drinking about 4 oranges and 1 whole grapefruit. It tasted amazing!
Today I splurged and polished off the water from 2 young thai coconuts, but the movie poster at the library called to me(snack pictures)
Cool! I was worried that I might be the only one who didn't start last winter.
Okay, 'cause it's almost summer, I'm jumping in with both feet! I have started a Summer Juice Feaster's group. Right now, *sigh* I'm the only member!
You are not the only one. I will be feasting through August. I am on day 17 of my juice feast today. I actually started my cleanse 4 days prior to starting the juice feast, doing only green smoothies and juice for those 4 days. I am glad that I started that way because it helped me get used to not eating solids before going only to juice.
I am glad to see that there are others feasing through the summer, when I logged on to this site I saw that most of the feasters had already ended their feast or were about to. :(
I do get cold, but only after drinking a quart of juice. And it is wonderful to just be able to step outside for a minute and warm up - it is in the low 90's already here in Atlanta!
Hi, Rawbin! I love your photo and name. I started the JF on May 17, so am on Day 19. I love the aromas from regular foods, but have absolutely no desire to consume all those toxins. By the end of the evening, I can barely finish the last juice. I'm so full all the time, and just loving it. I love my GreenStar Juicer, but it still takes me 4.5 hours every day. It's going to make my summer very busy, but I'll be talking to you during the summer. L. "Terry"
I started today. Finally getting the hang of my new Green Star. I love this machine. Not sure how long i will go, 30 to 60 days most likely. Juice is much more appealing in the warmer weather. My biggest struggle will be saying no to going out with friends. Juice feasting is a really private for me and i am uncomfortable telling people about it. People in my office, 20 women, are obsessed with food and would assume i have an eating disorder. whenever i have fasted in the past i have covered over it and kept it to myself. Also I fear being perceived as judging others' habits. any advice on how to deal socially?
Ikwym. I tend to say something like, "I'm really into juicing at the moment" or "I've just bought a fantastic new juicer and can't stop experimenting!" This tends to arouse friendly interest rather than horrified incredulity. If I want to be really discreet I drink juice out of a coated aluminium bottle rather than a big glass jar.
I'm still at a loss at how to explain a juice feast to those who can't even understand "raw vegan".
As I've had intestinal trouble in the past, I'm not too shy about some subjects, but I do know how uncomfortable it can be talking about something as "radical" as raw food or juicing. Most don't understand, some probably think I'm judging them by what they put into their own body, others just think this juice thing must be the new "south beach".
I have a group I eat out with once a week. They would joke and laugh and include me just fine, with them eating typical cooked food and me eating my only raw food. Now, instead I'm sipping a big glass of water with some citrus squeezed in. (I'd chug a half quart of my strange looking juice out in the parking lot before coming in to the restaurant) This last dinner out, one of the lady's even brought me a glass full of citrus wedges, so I could play with my food at the table. That wasn't something I would usually do, but it was a good distraction for me.
Then the questions start in... where do you get your protein? why 92 days? is this safe? don't you need fiber? So, I'm finding that the less I say, the easier it is.
I'm liking Vx's idea of saying I'm "really into juicing at the moment..." Maybe I'll shorten my conversation that way and steer the topic onto something else.
