Bikram Yoga... feasting and intesnse exersize

Hello everyone.
It is so nice to have found the path where all the intuitive souls are on. Thank you for bringing me along for the ride.
I am a Bikram Yoga teacher and avid practitioner.
I really want to juice feast... but I am worried about feeling weak or fatigued in class while practicing.
I have read the articles saying that yoga is great from the beginning.
Bikram is very intense lots of hydration loss.
What do you all think?
Any tips?
Thank you

Hey, great to see your post. I am not a teacher of Bikram and I have not practised for some time but my intuition is pushing me to get deeply involved back into my practice - but I am worried if I can sustain that and also juice feast. Bikram is extremely detoxifying itself and I am caught between participating in the Global juice feast which I love the idea and philosophy of (and with many other souls around the globe), or following the Jubbs lifefood fasting with raw blended soups, alkaline water, green juices etc which provide all the nutrition and energy you need, along with going hard out at yoga. ie. daily. Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I would say that it would be fine. I've done Bikram doubles on the Master Cleanser, which is significantly less nutrition, and felt very good. If you are juicing the celery every day, you'll get plenty of sodium and electrolytes.

Hi Ruby,

Bikram yoga is as hard as you make it to be. I practice every single day. Even when I feel off, have my period, have a headache, tummyache, sadness, grief, unbound happiness, giggles and on and on.... I put in my 90 minutes of stretching.
Some days it's torture, especially the first 2 postures, some most other days it's a breeze, I'm loving it. I also teach it, so the
heat is on for 6 hours a day for me. I have been eating raw vegan since 2000, but from time to time, I'll taste, try some cooked abominations in a restaurant most likely. Feel ok, not tired, not drained, although I sweat buckets daily. I drink plenty, liters of veggie juices, freshly pressed by me every day. Celery is a must! Beets are therapeutic, and spinach-carrot is my favourite.
Young coconuts with pineapples, pomegranates and cilantro is another excellent one to keep me smiling.
Our studio is very hot, most of the time it's around 120 F, with 45% relative humidity. My skin never felt or looked this good. I do have aches and pains here and there from time to time, depending how my body is adjusting thanks to the poses. It is a journey, a fun one at that.
I suggest, you sign up for a challenge at one of the studios nearby you, and keep to it, juicing all the way. You'll never regret it. You might want to be gentle with your efforts on days when the ceiling is too near to you ( detox in gear ), and have really hard core sessions when you feel really strong. Green juices will supply you with all the alkalinity you need, and fruit juices will supply you with the glycogen you need to keep going. You will not perish - it's not so easy to die, it's living that's hard, says Bikram. Good luck, I'm doing the same thing. I would be on my 23rd day, except for a few bites, again....so now I'm starting again today. Good luck to me too. I don't fall off because I think I'm undernourished, I fall off because I become toxicated with the smell of a particular food and I can't resist the taste. After the few bites, I feel strange, strangely blissed out for a few minutes, then the feeling of stupidity falls upon me, and I just smile, and keep juicing.

Life is so strange and fascinating. I love it!

My experience from last year which you can read about on myspace, was very hit and miss regarding energy levels. I'm sure everyone's experience is different. I was very energetic on some days; one day I cleaned my room from top to bottom, set a ten year personal best record for pull-ups, did my yoga routine and ran 4 miles... before lunch.

On my worst day, however, day 34, I could barely get out of bed. I hit the wall so to speak. Day 34 was my personal low point. The day my false body began to leave me. As it left, it stopped for a few days on my face and scared the crap out of me. Our ugliness is hard to look at. I cry now just thinking at the wonder I experienced and that awaits you.

By day 50 i was shining. I was so tempted to quit on day 34. I started to think I was being malnourished. But what if I had started eating again? The devils I was evicting would have flipped a u-turn and still been with me. But they are gone and I am a new person.

Peace to you on this journey. Don't be afraid. I will help in any way I can.

Thank you Jimmy for your story.
Truly inspiring- cause I have been there too.
I have yet to accomplish a 92 day feast... I have only done 14.
So I wish to do a 20 or more feast.
Then in the summer I plan on going all out.
I am traveling to mexico for a month to help with a yoga training. I am not mentally ready for doing a feast and helping at a training at the same time.
Everyday in everyway I wish to get better better and better.

Thank you for your stength..

Peace be with you too my friend.

This reply is a little late but here is my two bits. I wrestled in college where I could walk out of practice 6lbs lighter. I juiced when getting down to weight, so usually the 2-3 days before I stepped on the scale. The juicing was incredibly hydrating, of course you still need to drink water as well to make up for the added loss of water. I felt my energy levels were always better than my teammates and the first thing I put into my body after weigh ins was fresh juice.

To answer your question juicing would be ok just make sure to rehydrate with added water after. I just currently started my juice feast while training for a distance triathlon and it will be interesting to see how I feel after intense water loss and calorie burning from my workouts. The juice feasting is already usually a calorie reduction in most peoples diets and with my added calorie burning I will be drinking more than 4 quarts a day and add in almond milk with agave for some added carbs and calories to burn.

Make a good day.

I do a lot of intense exercise during this. I cycled about 23 miles today at a pretty good clip.
