Global Juice Feast

damn! i went for a massage last night and instead of making the headache less intense it made it worse! i have a horrible memory for this kind of thing and my boyfriend reminded me that in November, after the first time i went for a massage for migraine, it got worse before it started to get better (4 treatments later). i guess i just have to be patient - being patient is not something i do well though.

it's difficult at work because everyone knows im only on juice and i get questions about how im feeling and, even more so, when im in obvious pain. it's hard explaining to people why im doing this when it's been so long since ive felt anything good from it. more energy? nope...im tired all the time. find the root of the headaches? nope..im even more confused. happier? not really... confusion and constant headaches stress me out and make me unhappy. i'm trying to explore all things in my life and see if there is something else i can experiment with, reduce or increase...but i'm feeling pretty lost.

Hi there, thanks for the comment on my last blogg. I have actually been watching the food channel alot lately and am always thinking how I could give the food a raw spin! So no, it's not torture on me, thanks for the tip on the pb&j.

I have a suggestion about your migraines. Check out this website and see if you can get an access class near you, it's well worth the money if you are a migraine sufferer. http://www.bodytalksystem.com/ and while looking for the website I found this one too: http://www.bodytalkvancouver.com/

It's energy medicine and it's fantastic. I thook the access class here in October and the girl who taught it had been a migraine sufferer that could never get any relief. A friend suggested it and she found a practitioner and went. She was amazed and since she was in the field of natural health she studied it and now practices it and teaches it as well.

BTW, I grew up in Vancouver, well Burnaby, it's nice to speak to someone more local here. My family is still on the coast and whenever I talk to my mum she complains that the sun hasn't been out in days. In Calgary its sunny almost all the time. I LOVE IT! It makes up for not having the ocean at my back door (I lived in Victoria for 8 years before I moved here) When I arrive on the coast whether by car or plane and I see the ocean I get misty. Oh how majestic it is! I envy you but I LOVE the sunshine too!!!

Thanks Kirsten, i'm checking out the vancouver link you sent. there is an event next week that i will try and go to!

it's hard to decide where i "grew up"...i did 8 years in Calgary, then 8 years in Victoria and getting on 8 in Vancouver now. haha almost same like you! ;) when i moved to Victoria it felt very small but i didn't think i could ever leave the coast. vancouver felt like a nice compromise - the bigger city feel i enjoyed in calgary but with some of the hippy dippy west coast laid back attitude like in victoria! now if we could just get more sun....id be set!

i went to calgary in august and there was sun then hail and the pressure changes REALLY messed with my head. not a migraine friendly city really!

it was snowing today downtown van here! so funny. this winter has been a bit sunnier than most i remember though. i have a full spectrum lamp at my desk here to try and counter the dark winter blues.

hi there, i've had some horrendous 24 hour migraines and caved in and taken ibuprofen because i just couldn't cope any longer. i also use lavender essential oil on my temples and drink peppermint tea, which take the edge off. what i have found, in every instance, is that an enema, lots of water and rest really does help. the headaches are usually triggered by a major release of toxins, so you need to get them out of your body as quick as you can.
shame the massages haven't helped. i get hubby to give me a neck rub and it's very soothing.
good luck with finding a solution.

Thanks for the comments loulou!

I have tried ibuprofen in the past (and I took some last Friday) but have never experienced much relief from them. I've stumped my doctors because even hardercore treatments like imitrex don't seem to cut it!

i have a little vile of pepperment, lavender and rosemary essential oils mixed in sweet almond oil to rub on my neck and temples and ive been applying it fairly vigorously all week! it creates a cooling sensation which seems to lesson the throbbing a bit.

ive been going to the bathroom often and wadding up paper towels and soaking them in cold water and then placing that on the back of my neck while i hold my hands in really hot water. not a very environmentally friendly activity! but it gives me the sensation that some of the blood is leaving my head and going into my hands.

i have been really trying to up my water consumption and will try to drink more peppermint tea but i am already having some issues drinking enough juice throughout the day! more liquid is a challenge but i do agree that more water will probably be good.

im really hoping i can get rid of it this weekend so i don't have to start another week on such a down note!

I've been reading and I had a thought about the enemas. You do know that if you stop the coffee you will get a head ache right? Dumb question I know but just thought I would mention it. I'm not a coffee drinker so have never experienced the withrawl head ache until I stopped the coffee enemas. Wowzers! That's a doozy of a headache. So to wean myself off that stuff I just mix it weaker and weaker until I'm ok. On that note however, back in World War 1 the nurses would give coffee enemas to the patients when they were short on pain meds as they knew of the pain relieving properties. Funny thing is that coffee was also rationed and the doc's weren't too pleased with where the nurses were putting it. Haha!

Great if you can make that Body Talk seminar but I believe so much in that it would help you that I would strongly recommend that you call and see if you can get yourself an appointment asap. I hate to know that you are suffering and would be even worse if you gave up the cleanse just to have some relief. Brace yourself for the cost though. Here it's $90 a visit but I would imagine well worth it if you could get on with normal daily activities.

When I lived on the coast I never had a head ache because of the weather but when I moved to Calgary I wanted to peirce a hole in my skull to release the pressure. The coast has highs and lows almost hourly but when we are building up to a high pressure system here, a Chinook, WOW! your head really lets you know. I've been here 4 years now and last year and this are much better. I haven't had a bad head ache yet this season but next time I do I will just do the Body Talk and I'm sure it will take care of it.

Hope you get better soon!

i stopped drinking coffee back in October but started to drink matcha to get me "on" in the mornings at work. i did notice a withdrawl headache for the first 5 days of the feast for sure but today is day 40 so there is no caffiene in my system. although i used to drink coffee to help ease the headaches when i felt them coming on, i know now that that short term solution causes problems in the long run so i am happy without it in my daily life. maybe i will bring matcha back as a recreational drug after the feast but we'll see!

coffee enemas for pain eh? hmmm. i haven't read very much on the topic but what i have read some people do get "jittery" caffeinated effects from it so that made me want to stay away.

i think the seminar is just informational so i think your advice is apt to just make an appointment. $90 is not much when i consider how much time and drugs and weird shit i've had to pay for up to now! drop in the bucket compared to the botox my doctor recommended!

i have an appointment for craniosacral therapy on wednesday, which i have never tried before and was recommended by someone here at work. i am open to trying alternatives for sure!

Pro's and con's for everything right? I hear ya about not wanting to get back into the addiction but aside from the pain relief properties or possible addiction it's realy great for cleansing your liver. If you have been cleansing without doing coffee enemas this in itself might be contributing to your problem. The chemicals in the coffee help stimulate your bile ducts so that your liver can flush the crap better. Without this chemical process to help you along you could be causing yourself unneccessary pain and suffering. I suggest you google 'coffee enema' as I was able to find out loads of info about it when I started them a few years ago. Yes, you will need to wean yourself off but the benefits of it helping your liver and detox should be well worth it.

I'd love to hear how it goes with the craniosacral and the body talk if you make it there too!
